In the department of obstetrics and gynaecology plays a pivotal role in catering to the health care needs of the under privileged women of Pudukottai District. A dedicated team of obstetriciansand gynaecologists are involved in providing exemptary preventive and therapeutic services to pregnant women and women with gynaecological problems. 

The CEMONC Centre run by the department operates 24 X 7 emergency obsteric services and has well equipped icu, high dependency unit and operation theatre for managing high risk cases. Daily outpatient clinics are conducted for pregnant women and for women with reproductive health problems in addition to special clinics like cancer clinic, infertility clinic and adolescent clinic 

   

Apart from clinical work the faculties are involved in teaching medical students. Faculty also handle training programmes for doctors, nurses and para medical staffs.
