ABOUT DEPARTMENT:
The Department of ophthalmology is committed to the alleviation of suffering from eye disease and enhancing the quality of vision. Ophthalmology department through our various activities aim at removing avoidable blindness, a devastating condition with deep emotional and economic implication. We strive to work towards this by holding on to our mission which is vision. we train our students in the field of Ophthalmology, contribute to our communities and improve the health of individuals and populations locally and globally through discovery, application, and communication of knowledge.
The department handles outpatient services that include refraction, prescription of appropriate glasses, slit lamp bio-microscopy, evaluation of anterior and posterior segments, Applanation tonometry, and Indirect ophthalmoscopy. Regular screening is undertaken for glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and retinopathy of prematurity.
In patient services include cataract surgeries with IOL implantation, glaucoma surgeries, pterygium surgery, oculoplastic procedures, laser techniques and medical management of various eye diseases.
