The surgical anatomic pathology Lab is well equipped with the fully automated vacuum tissue processor, Microtomes, trinocular and pentahead microscopes. 

A variety of surgical specimens including autopsy from all the departments in the medical college hospital and the affiliated hospitals are received processed and examined under microscopes and accurate reports are provided. Special stains and cell block processing are also carried out.

The cytopathology laboratory provides rapid relatively inexpensive and crucial diagnostic work for the materials including  fine needle aspiration cytology, PAP smears and body fluid/semen/vaginal swab/sputum/CSF analysis. 

The clinical hematology lab is fully  equipped with  five part and three part automated cell counters, coagulation analysers  and provides rapid and accurate results. The tests performed include  complete blood counts (CBC) and differentials, peripheral smear examination, reticulocyte analysis, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR),. Coagulation studies and urinary analysis. 

The subject of pathology, general and systemic including clinical pathology is taught to the MBBS, paramedical and allied health students. Practical hematology labs, histopathology labs, demo rooms with audio visual aids support the academic activities of the department. The department has a museum with more than 250 specimens on display and a library with the latest edition text books.
